Just 9% of Americans say they are well-informed about their elected officials' positions on research. To improve this number, Research!America, the Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation and our partners will invite all members of Congress to complete a questionnaire about where they stand on medical, health and scientific research and other issues that affect our health. The questions will result from public input through PARADE magazine's Web site.

In May, each member of Congress received a letter and a copy of the questionnaire. They may respond by fax, mail, e-mail or online at a secure link, accessible only with their unique password.

Senators' and Representatives' answers will appear as they entered them online. Responses received by fax, mail and e-mail will be entered in the online system as submitted. Responses will be only reviewed for inappropriate content (e.g., profanity). If content is deemed inappropriate, the member of Congress will be contacted and given the opportunity to edit the response.
